Anjo is an independent AI lab building intelligence that can carry the continuity of a human life. Its first product is Anjo, an AI companion with memory, on iPhone. Anjo remembers what matters, connects patterns across time, and helps you see how you're changing. Every observation it holds carries the dated moment it came from, and any of them can be corrected or erased. Anjo publishes its memory benchmark, filters unsupported memories out of its replies, and never contacts a person more often as they grow closer. The lab was founded in 2026 by Kevin Chang and is a member of NVIDIA Inception.
Facts
The benchmark figure is the retrieval sub-task of LongMemEval-S, run through the production read path. The paper's own baselines on the same setup are 0.634 for BM25, 0.723 for Contriever, and 0.720 for Stella v5 1.5B. Please do not describe Anjo as
- Therapy, mental-health care, a therapist, or crisis support. Anjo is software for conversation and reflection, for adults 18 and over.
- A girlfriend, boyfriend, or romantic companion. There is no dating, romance, or roleplay framing.
- Emotion detection. Anjo does not read faces, voices, or biometrics. Its reads come from what a person chooses to say.
- A web app, a website, or an Android app. Anjo is an iPhone app; anjo.love is a marketing site.
- Alive, conscious, or as having feelings. We do not claim that, and a filter on the output path stops Anjo from claiming it.
- The best or most accurate companion. The benchmark compares Anjo with published retrievers, not with other products.
Privacy, stated exactly
Your chat history is stored encrypted at rest. No human at Anjo can access your conversations by default. Temporary support access requires your explicit permission. You can inspect, correct, reset, or delete your data.
